Not to horrify you or anything, but this is what a hydrothermal worm looks like under an electron microscope!
Don’t worry. It lives in the ocean.

Secret cinema found beneath Paris
In September 2004, French police discovered a hidden chamber in the catacombs under Paris. It contained a full-sized movie screen, projection equipment, a bar, a pressure cooker for making couscous, a professionally installed electricity system, and at least three phone lines. Movies ranged from 1950s noir classics to recent thrillers.
When the police returned three days later, the phone and power lines had been cut and there was a note on the floor: “Do not try to find us.” (via)

You can see the storm has actually wound entirely around the planet; just below the head on the left you can see light colored clouds that are actually from the tail of the storm that’s wrapped all the way around Saturn. Given Saturn’s diameter of about 120,000 km (72,000 miles) and the latitude of the storm (call it 45°), this monster system must be well over 300,000 km (180,000 miles) in length! That’s three-quarters of the way from the Earth to the Moon.
Phil always tells it best. And I like his naming suggestion: Ouroboros.

Project idea: While you’re chilling out in the grass/on the beach, grab cheetos, cherries, and whatever else you have around you to make your own stop-motion.
